Bam! Just like that there was light! And what is light? Electromagnetic radiation that moves at 186,281 miles per second! Yes, but another way I heard light explained is that which makes vision possible. God spoke light into the abyss of darkness of this world we live in, who knew there was such power in the spoken word! With a word God JUMP started life into motion. The spoken word is powerful and effective and brings new light, hope, direction & perspective to all situations. Who is speaking light into your situation?

In 1968, Bob Beamon, set a new world’s record in the long JUMP beating the previous world record by more than 21 inches! It was the equivalent of an 8.5 second 100 yard dash or a 3:30 minute mile. One JUMP changed Beamons life forever! Beamon was not the favorite on that fateful day in Mexico City and barely made the finals. Though he was a world class athlete his career had been marked with inconsistency.

Also, at the same Olympics the high JUMP record was set by Dick Fosbury. Fosbury introduced a new JUMPing technique many thought was awkward, unorthodox and a passing fad now known as the Fosbury flop. Missing the height on his first two attempts Fosbury set a new world record on his final JUMP! Today, nearly all high jumpers use this method.

A Finnish proverb says “You cannot JUMP higher than your head”. Beamon and Fosbury both knew something inside that others may not have known and that was their potential. All of us need light spoken into our life. Remember, light is that which gives us Vision! It doesn’t matter where you have been or where you came from or what you have done, JUMP! It elevates you to new heights! Jesus Uses Messed’ up People!
